Infestation

Infestation is a design agency who came to us to develop a mobile campaign for their client Parmalot. They were looking for a mobile element to attach to the new promotional design they had created for Parmalot.

Infestations requirements were:

Develop a system that will enable users to engage with the product and the chance to win daily prizes. Their ultimate goal was to increase brand awareness and generate traffic through a competition distributed within a small proximity.

So what ingenious mobile solution was Channel Mobile going to create this time?

The solution: Parmalots USSD Campaign

USSD stands for Unstructured Supplementary Services Data. It is a technology used to send information (usually text menus) between a mobile phone and an application on a mobile network.

It allows customers to request information by using numeric strings (starting with * and ending with #) or text menus via their mobile phone. USSD Codes can encompass once off requests or interactive navigation with a menu based application.

The competition worked as follows….

Consumers could enter by submitting in their name and the USSD code (*120*4901#) found on the product purchased. From those who competed, 10 winners were chosen daily each taking home R30 airtime.

Success:

Within the small proximity at which the campaign was distributed, it did extremely well and generated a lot of traffic – over 13 000 entries during the course of the campaign.
